Golf Boosts Buy-to-Let Market

Good news for golf property owners

While many popular sports are seasonal, golf continues to enjoy year-round popularity – especially here on the Costa Blanca in Spain where fair weather keeps fairways open year round.  News emerged this week that out of 100 of Europe’s top golf courses, 25 are listed as located in Spain! An incredible figure meaning that Spanish golf courses account for a full quarter of the top courses in Europe.

Coupled with an increase in rounds of golf being played across Spain and Portugal (up to a third increase in places) and a steady increase in tourism figures for Spain (up by almost 4% last year) it is no wonder that 90 million people choose to come to Spain on holiday with a good proportion of those visitors listing golf as a favourite pastime.

With blue flag beaches, quality dining and leisure, the Costa Blanca has always been one of Spain’s most popular destinations but golf has always been an integral part of the Costa Blanca’s tourism offering. The weather is ideal and the courses are among the top in the country, many of which have been designed by champion golfers. Pair a few rounds of golf with trips to the beach and a sampling of the local cuisine, and for many, you have a simply outstanding holiday experience.  It is little wonder, therefore, that Spain’s golf properties continue to hold their value and have such lasting appeal to buyers from Northern Europe.

Along the Spanish Coastline, the latest statistics indicate a 4.5% price increase between April 2018 and April 2019.
